Hong Kong Week Calling for Scores [English Only]

Vienna Boys Choir Music Academy Foundation is now calling for scores to be performed in Hong Kong Week, to be held in Vienna on 14 - 19 Aug, 2016, as part of the Hong Kong - Vienna Music Festival.

Hong Kong Week aims to promote locally born musicians and new works composed by Hong Kong composers. Winning entries will be performed by prominent Hong Kong musicians in Vienna during the event.

- The applicant must be a permanent resident of Hong Kong.
- There are no restrictions on applicants’ current country of residence.

The Entry
-  The composition must be scored for any combination (or solo) of the following parts.

1 or 2 soprano
1 mezzo-soprano
1 bass-baritone
(with or without piano accompaniment)

1 violin / viola
(with or without piano accompaniment)

-  Vocal compositions may not exceed 10 minutes in length.
-  Instrumental compositions may not exceed 15 minutes in length.
-  Piano must not be prepared.
-  The usage of electronics or other media is not accepted.
-  Texts (if applicable) must be written in Mandarin OR Cantonese OR German.
-  Published and unpublished compositions are both welcome.

Application Instructions
-  Applications should be submitted via email, to festival@vbcmaf.org
-  Please include the following application materials as email attachments:
1) Cover Letter, pdf or MS Word format (Please include applicant’s name, address, phone number, and email, plus the title, duration and year of the composition)
2) Artistic resumé or CV
3) Programme notes
4) Full score in pdf format. Composers name should not be included in the score.
5) Audio recording of the piece (MIDI is also acceptable). File must be in mp3 format. (not mandatory but strongly recommended)

Submission Deadline
13 May, 2016

Announcement of Results
Entries will be chosen and composers notified by 3 June, 2016.
